"Psychological Commitment System"

Goal: 75%+ Show Rates (Word for Word Script at the bottom)

https://fathom.video/share/uUofrHQK-GWc-BJgTh6v9nw91cT9lTsSs - Training Call on the Process

SECTION 1 — CORE PHILOSOPHY

The goal is NOT: to fill the calendar.

The goal IS: to create psychological commitment.

Most agents create: calendar appointments.

Top producers create: emotional ownership.

A weak appointment feels:

  • optional

  • transactional

  • informational

  • low importance

A strong appointment feels:

  • emotionally relevant

  • important

  • personalized

  • psychologically committed

  • identity-driven

People show up to conversations they emotionally prioritize.

SECTION 2 — WHEN TO GO FOR THE ONE-CALL CLOSE

DO NOT automatically set appointments.

First determine: "Can this realistically be closed RIGHT NOW?"

GREEN LIGHTS FOR ONE-CALL CLOSE

Go for the close immediately IF:

✓ They are home ✓ They are not distracted ✓ They can grab pen/paper ✓ Decision-makers are present ✓ They are emotionally engaged ✓ They are answering questions openly ✓ They are not rushing ✓ They sound mentally available ✓ They have time to focus ✓ You have emotional buy-in already

THE PEN & PAPER TEST

This is the fastest triage test.

Use: "Go ahead and grab a quick pen and paper for me."

This is NOT about writing.

This is a BUSYNESS TEST.

IF THEY:

✓ Grab it quickly → They are likely available emotionally and mentally.

✗ Say: "I'm at work" "I'm driving" "I'm under my truck" "I'm running around" → Set appointment.

IF SPOUSE / DECISION MAKER IS HOME

Go for the close if:

  • both parties are available

  • they can focus

  • emotional engagement is high

Especially for Mortgage Protection: 2-legged appointments are ideal.

SECTION 3 — WHEN TO SET AN APPOINTMENT

Set an appointment IF:

✓ They are busy ✓ Driving ✓ Working ✓ Distracted ✓ Emotionally rushed ✓ Spouse absent ✓ Kids chaotic ✓ Limited time ✓ You cannot slow the call down ✓ You cannot complete proper Alignment

IMPORTANT:

Do NOT force a one-call close on rushed people.

Rushed prospects:

  • stay surface level

  • emotionally detach

  • default to "send me info"

  • no-show follow-up

  • compare quotes

SECTION 4 — BEFORE BOOKING THE APPOINTMENT

NEVER jump straight to: "What time works?"

That creates: calendar filler appointments.

Instead:

You MUST first create:

  1. emotional relevance

  2. emotional investment

  3. expectation framing

  4. identity consistency

  5. anticipation

  6. micro-commitment

SECTION 5 — EMOTIONAL BUY-IN PROCESS

Before booking: ALWAYS ask emotional-context questions.

MORTGAGE PROTECTION

Ask:

  • "What made protecting the mortgage important enough to look into?"

  • "What have you seen recently that made this feel relevant?"

  • "What was the biggest thing you wanted to make sure your family never had to deal with financially?"

IUL

Ask:

  • "What made now the time to start looking into tax-free retirement?"

  • "What's been frustrating about your current financial strategy?"

  • "What made you start thinking differently about the future?"

GOAL:

Get them emotionally connected BEFORE the appointment exists.

The appointment should become tied to:

  • family

  • protection

  • retirement

  • responsibility

  • certainty

  • peace of mind

NOT: a quote.

SECTION 6 — EXPECTATION FRAMING

NEVER say: "We'll go over some options."

That creates:

  • low importance

  • shopping behavior

  • transactional mindset

INSTEAD FRAME IT AS:

"Here's what we'll actually do together…"

"On the call I'm going to help you get clarity around:

  • what gaps may exist

  • what your family would actually need

  • what realistically makes the most sense

  • and whether this is even something you should prioritize right now."

PURPOSE:

This creates:

✓ professionalism ✓ authority ✓ structure ✓ certainty ✓ importance

SECTION 7 — CREATE ANTICIPATION

People show up when they believe: "This conversation matters."

USE:

"A lot of people come into these conversations thinking they just need a quote…"

"But usually by the end they realize there are things they never even considered before."

OR

"A lot of people looking into retirement strategies think they're comparing products…"

"But usually nobody's ever actually shown them how money moves long term."

PURPOSE:

This creates: ✓ curiosity ✓ anticipation ✓ emotional investment

SECTION 8 — IDENTITY LABELING

This is HUGE.

You want them identifying themselves as:

  • responsible

  • serious

  • proactive

  • committed

  • protective

USE:

"The people who usually get the most value from these conversations are the people serious about making responsible financial decisions…"

"Even if they don't move forward immediately."

PURPOSE:

Now they subconsciously want to behave consistently with: "responsible person."

SECTION 9 — THE APPOINTMENT TRANSITION

ONLY NOW do you transition to scheduling.

USE:

"Now obviously I want to make sure we actually have enough time to go through this properly instead of rushing it…"

"So let's get something carved out where you can actually focus for about 20 minutes without distractions."

PURPOSE:

Frames: ✓ importance ✓ seriousness ✓ focus ✓ intentionality

SECTION 10 — THE FUNNEL METHOD

NEVER ask: "What time works?"

STEP 1

Ask broad:

"Do mornings, afternoons, or evenings usually work best for you?"

STEP 2

Offer ONLY your next two available spots in that category.

Example: "Looks like I've got tomorrow at 5:30 or 6:00."

"Which one would be easier for you to fully focus during?"

IMPORTANT:

Never ask: "Can you make that work?"

Assume attendance.

SECTION 11 — KEEP APPOINTMENTS CLOSE

Best practice: within 24 hours.

Maximum: 48 hours.

The longer the gap:

  • lower emotional intensity

  • more shopping

  • more distractions

  • more no-shows

SECTION 12 — DETERMINE BUYER TYPE

Before ending: identify whether they are:

  • emotionally bought in OR

  • still in comparison mode

ASK:

"Just so we're on the same page…"

"Are you genuinely looking at whether solving this makes sense…"

"Or are you mostly gathering information right now?"

IF THEY SAY: "I'm genuinely looking" → strong sign

IF THEY SAY: "Just comparing" → reframe immediately

SECTION 13 — COMPARISON REFRAME

DO NOT argue.

DO NOT pressure.

Reframe gently.

USE:

"I completely understand comparing…"

"But I guess who leaves their family in a better position…"

"The person endlessly searching for the perfect option…"

"Or the person who takes the opportunity to put protection in place while they can?"

PURPOSE:

You are consequencing: the decision pattern.

NOT the product.

SECTION 14 — MICRO-COMMITMENTS

Before hanging up: get multiple small commitments.

MICRO-COMMITMENT #1

Calendar confirmation.

"Go ahead and throw that in your calendar now."

MICRO-COMMITMENT #2

Confirmation text.

"Respond YES in all caps so it locks your slot in."

MICRO-COMMITMENT #3

Homework assignment.

This is CRITICAL.

SECTION 15 — HOMEWORK SYSTEM

Every prospect gets homework.

People value: what they invest effort into.

EXAMPLES:

✓ Watch short video ✓ Review website ✓ Write down mortgage balance ✓ Gather retirement numbers ✓ Think about desired protection amount ✓ Bring spouse ✓ Have budget ready

IMPORTANT:

Do NOT merely SEND homework.

Get COMMITMENT.

USE:

"You're going to take 5 minutes and watch that before tomorrow, right?"

OPTIONAL IDENTITY LABEL:

"I know how important this is to you as a provider…"

"So I know you'll take a few minutes to go through that beforehand."

PURPOSE:

Creates: ✓ psychological investment ✓ identity consistency ✓ emotional ownership

SECTION 16 — END WITH EMOTIONAL RE-ANCHOR

Before hanging up: re-anchor the emotional reason.

EXAMPLE:

"So just so I'm clear…"

"The biggest thing you wanted to make sure was that your family wouldn't be left trying to figure the mortgage out alone…"

"Correct?"

PURPOSE:

The appointment is now emotionally tied to: FAMILY.

NOT: a quote.

SECTION 17 — APPOINTMENT REMINDERS

Use:

  • CRM reminders

  • text reminders

  • manual touchpoints

Best reminder: simple + emotional.

EXAMPLE:

"Looking forward to tomorrow."

"Based on what you shared, the biggest thing we'll be focusing on is making sure your family is protected correctly."

SECTION 18 — TRIAGING APPOINTMENTS

This is one of the highest-level parts of the system.

WHAT IS TRIAGING?

Calling before the appointment to:

  • confirm seriousness

  • increase show probability

  • gather missing information

  • possibly convert into a one-call close

TRIAGE:

✓ all rushed appointments ✓ all weak confirmations ✓ all auto-booked appointments ✓ all CRM-booked appointments ✓ all low-information appointments

SECTION 19 — TRIAGE PROCESS

CALL AS IF: you are simply confirming.

USE:

"Hey John, I know I caught you at work earlier…"

"I had a couple minutes between appointments and just wanted to help make the most of our time tomorrow…"

"I just had a couple quick questions about your situation."

PURPOSE:

This: ✓ lowers resistance ✓ increases buy-in ✓ gathers info ✓ deepens emotional investment

SECTION 20 — TRIAGE CONVERSION

Sometimes triage turns into: a one-call close.

IF DURING TRIAGE:

✓ both decision makers are home ✓ they grab pen/paper ✓ emotional buy-in increases ✓ they are focused ✓ they have time

→ Transition into full call immediately.

SECTION 21 — TONE & DELIVERY

Your tone should feel:

  • calm

  • diffusing

  • conversational

  • emotionally intelligent

  • observational

NOT:

  • salesman energy

  • rushed

  • overly excited

  • robotic

IMPORTANT:

Match THEIR pace.

Fast talker: match energy.

Slow talker: slow down.

People trust: people who feel familiar.

SECTION 22 — NO-SHOW PREVENTION MINDSET

Most no-shows happen because: the prospect never emotionally prioritized the conversation.

NOT because: they forgot.

Weak appointments create: optional behavior.

Strong appointments create: identity consistency.

FINAL PRINCIPLE

Do not fill calendar slots.

Create psychological buy-in.

Because people do not show up to: appointments.

They show up to: conversations they emotionally believe matter.

HIGH SHOW-RATE APPOINTMENT SETTING SCRIPT

Mortgage Protection & IUL

"Psychological Commitment Framework"

SECTION 1 — OPENING

"Hey John, this is YOUR NAME over with COMPANY."

"Looks like you had requested some information around protecting the mortgage / tax-free retirement strategies. Is that right?"

Have you found what your looking for yet or are you still looking?

Now just so I'm not assuming anything what did you see on our ad that made you want to look into this further?

SECTION 2 — QUICK TRIAGE TEST

(IMPORTANT: This determines whether:

  • you should one-call close OR

  • set appointment.)

"Perfect."

"Go ahead and grab a quick pen and paper for me."

IF THEY:

✓ grab it quickly ✓ sound relaxed ✓ can focus

→ continue deeper

IF THEY SAY:

  • "I'm driving"

  • "I'm at work"

  • "I'm busy"

  • "I'm under my truck"

  • "I've only got a second"

→ mentally note: SET APPOINTMENT.

SECTION 3 — EMOTIONAL CONTEXT

(Do NOT rush this.)

Mortgage Protection:

"So what made protecting the mortgage important enough to start looking into now?"

OR

"What have you seen recently that made this feel relevant?"

OR

"What was the biggest thing you wanted to make sure your family never had to deal with financially?"

IUL VERSION

"So what made now the time to start looking into retirement or tax-free strategies?"

OR

"What's been frustrating about your current financial plan?"

OR

"What made you start thinking differently about the future?"

SECTION 4 — EMOTIONAL EXPANSION

(Once they answer.)

"So this is really less about just seeing a quote…"

"And more about making sure your family isn't left dealing with unnecessary financial stress if something happened?"

PAUSE.

"Fair enough."

SECTION 5 — DETERMINE DECISION MAKERS

"Now is this something you normally handle completely yourself…"

"Or is this something you'd typically include your spouse / partner in as well?"

IF SPOUSE INVOLVED:

"Perfect."

"Usually these conversations go a lot smoother when both people hear everything firsthand rather than one person trying to relay it afterward."

SECTION 6 — EXPECTATION FRAMING

"So here's what we'll actually do together…"

"On the call I'm going to help you get clarity around:

  • what protection gaps may exist

  • what your family would realistically need financially

  • what options actually make the most sense

  • and whether this is even something you should prioritize right now."

"Fair enough?"

SECTION 7 — CREATE ANTICIPATION

Mortgage Protection:

"And honestly John…"

"A lot of people come into these conversations thinking they just need a quote…"

"But usually by the end they realize there are things they never even considered before."

IUL VERSION

"A lot of people looking into tax-free strategies think they're just comparing products…"

"But usually the real issue is nobody's ever shown them how money actually moves long term."

SECTION 8 — IDENTITY LABELING

"And honestly…"

"The people who usually get the most value from these conversations are the people serious about making responsible financial decisions…"

"Even if they don't move forward immediately."

PAUSE.

SECTION 9 — TRANSITION TO APPOINTMENT

"Now obviously I want to make sure we actually have enough time to go through this properly instead of rushing it…"

"So let's get something carved out where you can actually focus for about 20 minutes without distractions."

SECTION 10 — THE FUNNEL METHOD

"Do mornings, afternoons, or evenings usually work best for you?"

IF THEY SAY:

Morning → offer ONLY morning slots

Afternoon → offer ONLY afternoon slots

Evening → offer ONLY evening slots

EXAMPLE

"Looks like tomorrow I've got either 5:30 or 6:00."

"Which one would be easier for you to fully focus during?"

(NOT: "Can you make that work?")

SECTION 11 — DETERMINE BUYER TYPE

(After they choose.)

"Perfect."

"And just so we're on the same page…"

"When we hop on…"

"Are you genuinely looking at whether solving this makes sense for you…"

"Or are you mostly gathering information right now?"

IF THEY SAY:

"I'm genuinely looking"

"Perfect. That makes this a lot easier."

IF THEY SAY:

"I'm comparing options"

"Yeah and I completely understand wanting to compare."

"But I guess in your mind…"

"Who usually leaves their family in a better position…"

"The person endlessly looking for the perfect option…"

"Or the person who takes the opportunity to make sure protection is actually in place?"

PAUSE.

"Exactly."

SECTION 12 — LOCKING THE APPOINTMENT IN

"Perfect."

"I'm locking that slot in for you now."

"Looks like you should've just gotten a confirmation text."

"Go ahead and respond YES in all caps for me real quick so it locks your slot in."

WAIT.

"Perfect. I just saw it come through."

SECTION 13 — HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENT

"Now one last thing so we can make this call super efficient…"

"I'm going to send you a quick 5-minute video that breaks down the basics."

"That way when we talk…"

"We can spend our time focused on YOUR situation instead of generic information."

MICRO-COMMITMENT

"You're going to take 5 minutes and watch that before we talk tomorrow, right?"

WAIT.

OPTIONAL IDENTITY LABEL

"I know how important this is to you as a provider…"

"So I know you'll take a couple minutes to go through that beforehand."

SECTION 14 — EMOTIONAL RE-ANCHOR

"So just so I'm clear…"

"The biggest thing you wanted to make sure was that your family wouldn't be left trying to figure the mortgage out alone…"

"Correct?"

OR IUL:

"The biggest thing you wanted clarity around was making sure your future retirement situation is actually secure long term…"

"Correct?"

WAIT.

"Perfect."

SECTION 15 — FINAL PRE-SUASION FRAME

"And between now and when we talk…"

"Don't stress about trying to become an expert on this stuff."

"My job on the call is to simplify everything enough that by the end…"

"You'll either feel:

  • very clear this is something you need to prioritize OR

  • very clear it's not the right fit."

"Either way…"

"Clarity is the goal."

SECTION 16 — FINAL CLOSE

"Perfect."

"So I've got you locked in for tomorrow at 6:00."

"I'm looking forward to speaking with you."

"And unless you win the lottery between now and then…"

"You're good for that time, right?"

(Light laugh.)

WAIT.

"Perfect."

"I'll talk to you tomorrow."

SECTION 17 — IF THEY ARE VERY RUSHED

SHORT VERSION:

"Totally understand."

"Sounds like I caught you running around."

"So let's do this…"

"I'd rather schedule a time where you can actually focus for 20 minutes instead of trying to rush through it right now."

"Do mornings, afternoons, or evenings usually work best for you?"

(Then continue process.)

SECTION 18 — TRIAGE SCRIPT

(For weak appointments, rushed leads, or auto-booked appointments.)

"Hey John, I know I caught you at work earlier…"

"I had a couple minutes between appointments and just wanted to help make the most of our time tomorrow…"

"I just had a couple quick questions about your situation."

IF THEY OPEN UP: → transition into full discovery → possibly one-call close immediately.

SECTION 19 — POST-CALL TEXT

"Hey John — looking forward to speaking tomorrow at 6:00.

Based on what you shared, the main thing we'll be focusing on is making sure your family is protected correctly / making sure your long-term retirement strategy actually makes sense for your situation.

This won't be a high-pressure conversation. The goal is simply clarity around what makes sense for your situation.

Talk soon."
